Hello All,

My wife Mary and I are looking into trawler type boats in the 50 60
range. We have yet to truly narrow our search, but the Fleming 55 and Krogen
48s are interesting, and seem to have the size and accommodations that would
fit our needs.

I have a great many questions, but let me start with this one :

Both the Fleming and Krogens have all the staterooms grouped forward. People
with liveaboard experience have discouraged us from considering a boat with
accommodations grouped forward. Two general reasons are given:

The bow (master) stateroom will be uncomfortable underway and at anchor.

If you have guests aboard, it is better for your mental health if the master
stateroom is separated from the other accommodations.

We like the layout of boats that allow direct access to aft cockpit from the
salon. Also, we want the aft cockpit low enough to permit easy use of a
stern platform and the dinghy.

What are peoples experiences and views?

Thank you in advance for your responses. I am learning a great deal by
closely monitoring this list.
